AAWC listed on CAF America's Charity Database

8 Aug 2014

Apne Aap Women's Collective (AAWC) is now eligible to receive grants from Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) America from 7th August 2014 to 7th August 2016. As a result, AAWC is now listed on CAF America's Charity Database.

CAF America is a global grant-making organization assisting corporations, foundations, and individuals. It streamlines the grant-making process to eliminate risk and administrative burden. Through its work, CAF helps donors support great causes by assisting them in making strategic, effective, and tax-advantaged grants internationally and domestically. As a US 501(c)(3) public charity, gifts to CAF America are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Since US donors are not able to make tax deductible gifts directly to foreign organizations, many use CAF America to fulfil their global giving objectives while still obtaining a tax advantage.

About Apne Aap Women’s Collective
Founded in 1998, Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC) is an anti-trafficking organisation that serves the women and children of Kamathipura, the red light area of Mumbai that is also one of the largest and oldest red light areas in Asia. By providing our members with the tools and resources to create a better quality of life, we seek to empower women who have been trafficked into brothel-based prostitution and to prevent the cycle of intergenerational prostitution among their daughters. Since 1998, we have served more than 2,800 women and children. Our alumni have earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and entered respected professions like accounting, hospitality management, luxury cuisine, nursing, photography, retail, social work, and teaching.
