15 Jan 2014
During the 2013 holiday season, Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC) launched our 15th anniversary fundraising campaign through GlobalGiving, an international online fundraising platform. We are pleased to announce that we will give 10% of funds raised to Shweta Katti, an AAWC alumnus who currently attends Bard College in New York.
AAWC is proud to share several other achievements from the campaign:
On 28 November (less than 4 days into the campaign), we fulfilled GlobalGiving’s minimum requirement of raising $5,000 from 40 unique donors, thereby
qualifying for a permanent fundraising page on GlobalGiving. This new platform will give us unprecedented access to the international donor community.
On 3 December, AAWC participated in a Bonus Day (donations matched at 15% by GlobalGiving) and won 2nd place among 290 projects for total funds raised
during those 15 hours.
Inflection, a California-based technology startup, has a unique tradition of donating to a non-profit organisation for each new release of its software solution.
For its December 2013 release, Inflection selected AAWC! Read more about the
donation at Inflection’s blog.

About Apne Aap Women’s Collective
Founded in 1998, Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC) serves the women, girls, and toddlers of the Greater Kamathipura Area, one of the largest and oldest red light areas in Asia. By providing its members with the tools and resources to create a better life, AAWC seeks to empower women who have been trafficked into brothel-based prostitution and to prevent intergenerational trafficking of girls and young children who grow up in the brothels. Since its inception, AAWC has served more than 1,500 women, 650 girls and 400 toddlers. Learn more at www.aawc.in.
