Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC) was awarded the GuideStar India NGO Transparency Award (Advanced Level) for 2016. The Award aims to encourage and recognize organizations that practice and voluntarily demonstrate their transparency and accountability in the public domain. Out of the 716 applicants to the four levels of award, 33 were awarded the Advanced Level (GuideStar India Gold) recognition.

BASF- Connected to Care| Shortlisted - Global Winner

Apne Aap Women’s Collective’s Umeed Program has been shortlisted as the 150 global winners for the BASF- Connected to Care Program. The Connected to Care Program launched by BASF invited charitable organizations from around the world to submit their projects dealing in the areas of urban living, food and smart energy. BASF is world’s leading chemical company that combines economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility. Their corporate purpose is to create chemistry for a sustainable future.

Global Giving UK | Volunteer Evaluation Program | Audited Report

Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC) received its first audit report by Global Giving UK. Global Giving is a charity fundraising web site that provides a chance to raise money for the projects of the non-profit organizations. Global Giving UK has designed ‘The Volunteer Evaluation Program’ (VEP) to help to evaluate selected partners comprehensively. This auditing was done at AAWC by their trained and skilled volunteers Belinda Saunders and Hannah Gladman.

Singapore Committee for UN Women and MasterCard | Project Inspire:5 Minutes to Change the World - Top 50 projects

Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC)’s Udaan project has been shortlisted among the Top 50 projects out of more than 500 entries from 70 countries worldwide for the Project Inspire: 5 Minutes to Change the World competition, which is a joint initiative from the Singapore Committee for UN Women and MasterCard. Launched in 2011, to mark the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day and the 25th anniversary of MasterCard Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, Project Inspire presents 18-35 year olds with a five-minute platform to pitch their inspired idea, for the chance to win a US$25,000 grant. Its major goal is to help young change-makers create a better world for women and girls in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.

Governor General of Canada | Visit by Her Excellency during State tour of India

At the request of the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston conducted a State visit to the Republic of India, from February 22 to March 2, 2014. On March 1, Her Excellency interacted with current and past beneficiaries of the Udaan project—daughters of women in brothel-based prostitution and other marginalized girls between the ages of 6 and 18— to discuss the challenges of integration and the positive changes in their lives.

AAWC Field Director Sangita Satyam and the AAWC tuition teachers were felicitated by the Lions Club of Thane-Kopri on Teacher's Day for their significant contributions to children’s education in Mumbai.
Vodafone Foundation | Red Rickshaw Revolution

The Red Rickshaw Revolution was a high-profile campaign to raise awareness and fundraising for women’s empowerment in India that culminated in a nine-day rickshaw ride from Delhi to Mumbai. AAWC was the original NGO that inspired the Vodafone Foundation to launch the Red Rickshaw Revolution, which was later joined by two other NGOs, Breakthrough and Community Outreach Programme (CORP).
